JASMINE TEA
Botanical name: Jasmine officialis Common name: Jasmine Tea
Jasmine tea is made from green tea leaves and mixed with fresh jasmine flowers.
It is believed that the health benefits of jasmine tea may surpass those
of green tea. Several studies have found jasmine tea lowers cholesterol levels. Other studies found that fruit flies lived 20% longer when jasmine tea was added to their drinking water. Jasmine is one of the most popular teas in China. Jasmine is picked in the heat of the day,
when the tiny flowers are closed tight. The blossoms open in the cool of the evening, when they are blended with the tea leaves to create this fragrant refreshing beverage.
Tea, even ordinary black tea, is one of four main sources of flavonoids in Europe. Multiple
studies have also supported the role of tea flavonoids in cancer prevention and has been found to be effective against the development of heart disease and stroke.
Jasmine tea is used in Chinese Traditional Medicine:
- heart disease
stroke, and Cancer of the: lung, breast, prostate, bladder, stomach, and colon cancer
